During their visit to the National Library, Miaka Yuuki and Yui Hongo, two junior-high students, get transported into the world of a mysterious book that takes them to ancient China, known as "The Universe of The Four Gods." Miaka's fate takes an unexpected turn when she is chosen to be the priestess of Suzaku, and her task is to unite all of her celestial warriors to summon Suzaku and make three wishes. However, Yui is manipulated into becoming the priestess of Seiryuu by Seiryuu's enemy nation. The two former best friends are now turned enemies as they embark on their journey to summon their respective gods and obtain their wishes.
