Fateful Encounters: Based on novel by Kaminaga Manabu. Shinrei tantei yakumo aka psychic detective yakumo tells a story about a college student, Saitou Yakumo who born with different eye colors. His red left eye gave him a special ability to see ghosts and spirits. He believes ghosts and spirits are bound to earth because of a certain 'cause' and simply by eliminating that 'cause' will those spirits rest in peace. Being asked for help by Ozawa Haruka, together they began the investigation.
The series is set in the modest town of Suiten, located in a remote mountain region in the island of Kyūshū, and follows three boys who have each had traumatic encounters in their childhood and learn to transfer their souls into a parallel world known as the "Unseen World". The Unseen World is however undergoing a change, with its ghosts starting to appear in the real world, which is therefore also being subject to changes.
A boy named Aoi Asumori, a high school student with a peculiar constitution that can see spirits is secretly in love with his classmate Ai ichinose, who is very popular because of her bright personality. However there is a large number of spirits lingering in the background... Why are they coming after her? As an inexplicable incident creeps in, Aoi decides to become a hero that can protect her...

Karumi is a boisterous and energetic girl whose greatest desire is to play the drum during the local festival. When Sawai's grandmother has heart trouble, Karumi impresses Sawai with her energy--and wrestling ability! But the gap between their worlds may be too great even for a duet with violin and drum, for Sawai's mother has returned to Japan--and declares Sawai must go to Austria. The only way he can stay is for rough Karumi to make a good impression...

Kamigaya Kai, a high school girl, frequently receives confessions from others. To prevent further approaches, she proposes an unusual condition to her suitors - "I will confess my love to you if you let me stab you to death." She finds her life dull, with monotonous parents, classmates, and media. Unexpectedly, Kuwashima Kusabi, a seemingly ordinary girl, injects vibrancy into Kamigaya Kai's uninteresting world. At first, Kamigaya dismisses her as just another confession, but a surprise awaits her when Kuwashima returns home to retrieve a more durable knife.
