Akira Shiroyanagi, a master of logic puzzles, and several others are plucked from modern-day Japan and thrown into an unfamiliar room. Shackles firmly around their wrists, they are informed that no one will miss them because the world believes they have died, and they are now test subjects for revolutionary research. This research involves abilities that can enhance a person's capabilities and bend reality itself. Although dread fills most people's hearts, Akira finds the challenge exhilarating. All of them receive a unique ability that no one else possesses and are immediately thrown into a range of trials. The challenges range from one-on-one duels to enormous battle royales, with even death being a possibility.
