In the eight volumes of the series, the mangaka choses some of the most famous operas of all times to tell their stories. The first two volumes deal withe the operas in Wagner's Ring Cycle, the third contains La Traviata, Rigoletto, Aida and so on, each o the volumes containing various operas, their actions being divided in acts following the staging tradition.

Awakened by these Saniwa are the tsukumogami dwelling in swords, “Touken Danshi”. In order to protect history, they throw themselves into battle. The Saniwa gives their Touken Danshi the order to go on a new sortie. They assign a formation with Kashuu Kiyomitsu as the captain, Mikazuki Munechika, Kogitsunemaru, Ishikirimaru, Iwatooshi and Imanotsurugi, to go to the 5th year of the Bunji era, to the battlefield at Oushuu Hiraizumi: Atsukashiyama…

Hachisuka Kotetsu is rubbed the wrong way by the existence of Nagasone Kotetsu, who is a forgery.The stage is the first year of the Genji era (1864). The target of the Historical Revisionists is the Shinsengumi. Kashuu Kiyomitsu and Yamatonokami Yasusada were Okita Souji's swords, Izuminokami Kanesada and Horikawa Kunihiro were Hijikata Toshizo's swords, and Nagasone Kotetsu was Kondo Isami's sword. Seeing their former masters makes the Touken Danshi waver. However, the presence of the History Retrograde army, under the command of the Historical Revisionists, draws near them. What is the meaning of Yamatonokami Yasusada's actions, as the goal of the History Retrograde Army remains unknown...?

From Mangascreener: Nawoki Karasawa is one of the longer-active and more prestigious names in the typically small time, lesser-known world of gag manga. In a genre where art skill is second to just about everything else, Karasawa's dialogue is hilariously sharp and witty. A gag parody of Shinji Mizushima's immortal "Mangaka Zankoku Monogatari" (Karasawa's title only differs by adding "cho" [super] to "zankoku"), a manga about the dreams, ambitions and suffering of a group of bright young mangaka, Karasawa brilliantly takes the piss out of just about everything involved with being a mangaka. It's lewd, raunchy, endlessly cynical and laugh-out-loud funny. Originally published in Ikki and the Big Comic Spirits special issue "Casual" from 2000 to 2003, it was collected into a single book in 2005.
